In the same manner, I installed these two LED sconces in the front bedroom bath.

We removed the purple carpeting from the front stairs and upper foyer. Jayne used her no-scratch autobody pry tools to avoid damage. Yes, Jayne actually owns a set of no-scratch autobody pry tools. Go figure.

Austin got the challenging job of removing the individual carpets from each step and riser.

Jayne's garden weeding pad comes in handy. Her sister plans to take these carpets and use them in her artistic country house.

The stair carpets were attached with glue, staples AND nailer strips. Ouch.

Austin laid out what was extracted to remove just the carpet from one solitary step: Includes pad, carpet, glue, dozens of staples, a nailer strip w/ nails. And then there are 21 more steps.

Still "peachy," but at least the purple carpeting is now gone from the staircase. The new paint will finish the job soon.

In the master bath, I removed the rectangular plastic plates to reveal very crudely-cut holes in the mirrors, like the one pictured. I became concerned re further mirror cracking and the ensuing seven years of bad luck.

I taped up the area around each cut and attached the new sconce back plates with a layer of (GE) silicone adhesive and the #6-32 screws.

I let the silicone cure for 24 hours before removing the masking tape.

Once wired up and turned on, the new LED sconces light up the vanity. I like them. The expensive #$%@ Lutron light controls, however, do not work with the LED's because the LED's don't use enough power. Hard to believe, but I had to replace the switch.

The basement bathroom gets a ceiling light fixture AND vanity light sconces. I can see now!

This is a very big, obviously expensive, leather-upolstered banquette that just must go. I would hate to cut it up and cart it to the dump in pieces. There has been lots of interest, but no one is yet willing to take it away. Perhaps Howard Johnson's would want it back. The price is right (It's FREE).

Despite last-ditch efforts to find a suitable home for the turquoise leather banquette, it finally fell beneath the blades of my sabre saw. Each piece was still weighty and I had to carry them away with the tractor. it's fun driving the tractor indoors!

The white base of the banquette was equally heavy and resisted my demolition efforts. Tomorrow I'll attack it with a sledge.

Ack! I hate this #%@$ thing! It contains about the same amount of structural framing as a small home. Austin guesses that was needed to prevent the glossy lacquer finish from cracking. In any case, it was way, way over-built.

The good news was that Austin helped me with the final demolition and carting everything to the dump, AND that the floor underneath is in pretty good condition. The walls, however, are not good and I am the sheetrock guy on this project. There is a surprise coaxial cable found behind the banquette that I now need to trace.

Another day, yet another light fixture. I installed this one over the landing on the way to the basement.
